AoP-2017_BannerToday we’re delighted to announce more details for the 2017 Armies on Parade.

Armies on Parade is the global celebration of Warhammer armies and Citadel Miniatures, which we run in our Warhammer and Games Workshop stores across the world. This is an event about painting armies, and one that any hobbyist can get involved in, whether this is your first army or you’re a seasoned veteran with dozens of painted forces.

Entering is easy – you can choose to start a new army, or to add to an existing one. The aim is to create a 24″ x 24″ display of your force (that’s the size of a Realm of Battle gaming tile) – your army on parade.

For some, this will be an elaborate display including atmospheric scenery and thematic conversions, and for others, it will simply be their force, laid out in all their uniformed splendour focussing on the attention to detail for each and every one of their miniatures. This is your chance to show off your skill, your ideas and your dedication.

Armies on Parade is also a competition, and at the end of the contest, we run two Parade Weeks where you can display your army in our stores, and everyone gets to vote for their favourites.

What’s new this year?

We’ve seen over the past few years that Armies on Parade means different things to different types of hobbyist, so this year sees the introduction of some new awards.

Everyone gets a prize!

Yay! Go you.

Painting an army is a marathon, not a sprint, and just completing the task and crossing the finish line is an achievement worth celebrating. Everyone who enters Armies on Parade this year and successfully brings a force into their local store to display will get a 2017 Armies on Parade silver badge to mark their achievement.

But there will be some winners too. This year, to represent the various ways you guys build your armies, we’re giving out up to 12(!) awards in each store – 6 each for both Warhammer Age of Sigmar and Warhammer 40,000.

Here are the categories:

  • Young Bloods (up to 15 years old)

Celebrating great armies from our youngest generation of hobbyists

  • First Army

No matter how old you are, if this is your first fully painted army, you can be in the running for this award.

  • Monsters and Machines

For those of you with armies of Monsters, Knights and Behemoths

  • Best Theme

Whether the inspiration is from a Black Library novel, a piece of artwork, or a classic force from the background and lore, this is one for those of you who love to represent a narrative with your armies.

  • Best Scenic Board

For those who love to create spectacular scenery for your displays

  • Best Painted

For you painters out there – fill your displays with your finest work to compete for this award.

If you decide to enter (and you should) we wish you all the best of luck!

Contact your local Warhammer and Games Workshop stores for full details of their Armies on Parade competition, entry requirements, display days and voting day.
